What's been playing ...

... on my iPhone / Pad this week.

The Naked and Famous - Passive Me , Aggressive You

This was a find for me. Trolling iTunes last week checking out the "what's free" stuff I found a free download for  Punching in a Dream. Th e user reviews year very positive referencing groups like MGMT and M83. I thought "what the hell" and grabbed it without even listening to it.

Five minutes later I had bought the whole album and can't stop listening to it.  Yeah , they do have similar sounds to MGMT et al , for me being a child of the 80's, this album sent me back to the glory days of Siouxsie and the Banshees , OMD , The Cure and even a bit of Tears for Fears.

Young Blood is a great pop single -

But my favorite on the album is The Sun

put your favorite headphones on, crank 'em up and listen as this builds from the soft piano in the beginning to a surround-you-with-a-wall-of-sound that'll make your head vibrate...

The Likability of Angry Birds - The Oatmeal

Finally ....

I finally made my first appointment for physical therapy for my injured shoulder.  I have to say , the people at kaiser are great!  Brett ( my p/t guy ) is knowledgable, funny, friendly and good at his job )  He thinks my injury is just minor and I should be back to 80-90% in 6 weeks or so ....

Fall Back - Spring ??? ...

There are certain signs that Spring is right around the corner: Punxsutawney Phil being dragged out of his comfy home, the crocus popping up amid what little snow we've had here in CO and most of all :

Mr_softee
The first Ice Cream truck of the year !

Yes , whilst sitting at home yesterday nursing another migraine , i heard the faint sound of the familiar music playing through the neighborhood. This brought back memories of running to mom and dad and asking(begging) for a dollar for that Bomb Pop or Dreamsicle.

I almost ran outside myself to grab a sweet sweet treat when I had a thought :

isn't it a bit too early for the  Ice Cream Man ???

I think i'll wait for a bit ...

Just Another Day ....

01_Just_Another_Day.m4a Listen on Posterous
yes , it has come around again.

Seems to get here a bit quicker every year . Not that I don't like birthday's , just that I really could care less any more.

Back in the olden days ( because i'm getting old enough to use phrases like that now ) , I had fun with my birthday. I can remember my Grandma asking me what kind of frosting to put on the cake and me responding with all the sincerity that an eight year old can muster - "purple"  ( nobody but me ate that cake that year ).  Or the fun cakes that my mom baked for us growing up -

Turtle-party
( not *this* particular turtle , but you get the idea )

Now , it's just another day.

Now , i'll spend the day like I do every more recent year.  In bed, with the covers over my head , waiting for it all to be over ...

iPhone 4 + Firestorm ...

( not really sure what I'm doing in Firestorm - just messing with it for now )

Sent from my iPhone

Insta-whats'is ???

If you've been noticing a few more pictures on my blog lately it's because I'm addicted to a relatively new iPhone app called Instagram

The concept is ridiculously easy : take a picture , upload the picture , share ...  It's really fun to see what people can do with the iPhone camera and some cool filters.  ( although i'm pretty sure that some pics are tweeked  in Photoshop or Aperture , they're still great ). You can then share the pics you upload to other sites ( like Posterous  or Facebook ) as you like.

Photography has always been a secret love of mine.  When I was younger I dreamed being a newspaper photographer like Peter Parker ( minus the whole spider-man part  - that i couldn't have cared less about ) or working for National Geographic.

Not that I can really take a good picture to save my life mind you. I'd love to take classes, learn how to really use a camera, but working afternoons and most of the evening and having days off that change every week makes that virtually impossible.  Maybe when I retire, then I can have a second career !!

So -  if you see pics pop up here and there on my blog it's because i'm trying to be the next Ansel Adams or Robert Mapplethorpe ( and failing spectacularly while having fun )

I've even gone and bought a new DSLR , an Olympus PEN e-pl1. So expect a lot more pictures of trees at sunset , or building corners , or blades of grass from me in the future !!

I'm back ????

I've been incognito for the past few weeks.

Not sure why , I was just contemplating. Thinking about my spot in the world , universe , internet ....

I wasn't sure what to say , but then it came to me. I would decide one of the most important debates in the last 100 years.

Was it peace in the Middle East ?  No.   The Meaning of Life ?  Hardly.  Lady Gaga vs Madonna ?  Don't make me laugh....

The one thing that I decided to take on , the biggest mystery of our time .......

La Fée Verte

My Unfabulous iPhone/iPod/iPad ...

What's been playing on my iPhone this week ...

S. Carey / All We Grow -

Marck was making one of his semi-daily pilgrimages to the local Starbucks last week and happened to grab one of the "free download" cards that always sit on the counter and brought it home to me.  Now I'm not one who usually takes these cards because 1) I'm to lazy to actually follow through on the redeeming part , and 2) I usually forget that it's in my bag/pocket. But this time , trying to keep one of my New Year non-resolutions of getting more (new) music in my life , I downloaded the song We Fell :

I was glad that I downloaded it.  S. Carey immediately reminded me Bon Iver ( and after reading some of the reviews online i'm not the only one) , an artist who although is not at the top of my list, is great to listen to all the same.  I've had this playing in the background all week & will probably put it into rotation a lot this coming year ...

New Zodiac Sign Dates: Ophiuchus The 13th Sign?

Your zodiac sign may not actually be your zodiac sign anymore. (UPDATE: Scroll down for Twitter reactions -- and to submit your own!)

Astronomer Parke Kunkle says that due to changes in the Earth's alignment the dates of many zodiac signs have changed, according to NBC. In addition, there may be a 13th Zodiac sign: Ophiuchus.

Kunkle says that as the Earth and Sun slowly move the signs gradually change, as expected.

The change didn't happen over night either. The 12 signs were designated to different periods of the year almost 3,000 years ago, when astrology began, and since then the Earth's position in relation to the sun has changed.

While the sign many people were born under may now be different, it shouldn't affect horoscope readings, according to NBC.

See if your Zodiac sign has changed below. (And find out if your friends' signs have changed here or by scrolling down on this page.)

The New Dates:

I was born on the Night of Hecate, on a Wednesday, under a black moon, and you are going to tell me I'm a Libra??? I think not.

Apparently I have traded one water-sign for another ..... I guess I am now a part of the Age of Aquarius ...
